COMPLIANCE

Dental Website Compliance

All registered dentists and dental professionals have a duty of care to ensure practice websites are compliant with Statutory Instrument 2002 No 2013 (EC Directive – Electronic Communications). The GDC is the responsible UK authority for ensuring compliance.

Dental Websites MUST show certain information about the practice(s), the dentist(s) and their staff in order to comply with the legislation that affects all of the regulated professions in the UK.

Information in websites must be legal, decent, honest and truthful, have regard to professional propriety, and must not mislead. Any advertising of professional services must be ethical. There must be no claims to specialisation, unless the practitioner is included in a GDC Specialist List with the details published, although the web site can state that the practice is limited to one type of treatment together with the registrant’s particular interest. Information on acceptance of patients on the NHS is recommended and a clear statement concerning the practice policy on the provision of private treatment is strongly recommended.

The staff at Dentsure work hard to keep up to date with current regulations and guidelines and we strive to ensure that the sites we produce and maintain are compliant. Please get in touch with us to discuss this subject area further.
